The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey Regency Brides A Legacy of Grace Carolyn Miller 9780825444524 Books
I'm sure most of us who read Carolyn Miller's first two books in this series were wondering "what happened to Miss Delancey?" This is, of course, her story. The beginning is quite good. While not as good as the first novel, still good enough for me to rate 4 stars. Maybe 3.75. Only a couple of reasons I might detract. I wasn't as enamoured of the H/h romance as with the first novel. But I like all of Miller's books, quite well written both in plot and in general, characters, et al. Good Christian undertones and overtones without being preachy. Absolutely clean, not a shred of worry there. Enjoyed the coastal setting too. A bit of melodrama, especially at the end, pulling my marks down. Personally I thought Miller could have made the evil more complex, instead, it just felt melodramatic to me. Personal opinion. If you haven't read her first one, "the Ellusive Miss Ellison", definitely read it. I did enjoy, in this Novel, Ben's sister and her family. The Prince regent, hope this isn't a as spoiler, but I thought he was depicted much too nobly. From a few historical references I've read it seemed he was not. This seems like a fanciful depiction. On the other hand, it served as a plot assist, so I understand the need. But I think Miller could have figured a better way and still presented him more accurately historically.Tags : The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey (Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace) [Carolyn Miller] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Will a damaged reputation and desire for society's approval thwart the legacy of grace? Tainted by scandal and forced to leave London for the quieter Brighton countryside,Carolyn Miller,The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey (Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace),Kregel Publications,0825444527,Christian - Romance,Romance - Clean & Wholesome,Romance - Historical - Regency,England - Social life and customs - 19th century,England;Social life and customs;19th century;Fiction.,Man-woman relationships,Man-woman relationships;Fiction.,Romance fiction,Scandals,Scandals;Fiction.,Australian Novel And Short Story,FICTION Christian Romance General,FICTION Romance Clean & Wholesome,FICTION Romance General,FICTION Romance Historical Regency,Fiction,Fiction Christian Romance,FictionRomance - Clean & Wholesome,FictionRomance - Historical - Regency

Carolyn Miller is an excellent author and I enjoyed the first two in the series, as well. Hope she continues writing and I certainly will continue reading her work.
Having read the first 2 books in the series I couldn't wait to read the third. I was curious to know how Carolyn Miller would handle the change of Mis DeLancey from a person of little faith through a person who recognises their need for faith to a person who acts and lives certain of her faith. Ms Miller satisfied my curiosity handsomely.
I really enjoyed this. I think it may have been my favorite of the series. I liked the flawed characters who are trying to do the right thing.
I was hesitant to read this one because I didn’t like her character in the others. But it was wonderful! Highly recommend. Beautiful story of a woman who learns she is loved bed by God.
You know when an author can get you to love a character you previously disliked, that's excellent writing. Well, that's what happened in The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey. Clara was the typical vapid, snobbish aristocrat brought down by own her pride and her brother's gambling. She has lost all hope for a decent future. Enter naval hero Ben Kemsley. He's not wealthy, he's not upper class. But he's perfect for Clara.
Clara begins to look outside of herself and focus on others which begins the healing process. And Ben is there for her every step of the way. Of the three books in this series, this one spoke most to my heart. The power of forgiveness and gratitude are represented well in both characters.
This book, as the others, can stand alone. However, you do miss some interesting details if you don't read them all, so I highly recommend the entire trilogy.
If you are not a believer, there may be too much scripture and faith talk. I am a believer so in this case, it didn't bother me.
Normally I would not care for the Christian references or the heroic Christian characters in this book. However, they are so flawed that they have a believable character arc, as painful as it is.
I didn't read the previous book, didn't know exactly what happened at first but honestly, it didn't matter. I loved the heroine and identified with her many struggles with herself, her faith and her relationships.
I thought the author had great insight. I highly recommend this book to anyone, with the understanding that this is a deeply Christian book.
The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey #3 Regency Brides A Legacy of Grace by Carolyn Miller
1815 Brighton Cliffs, England...the opening scenes of this story certainly captured my attention...I was holding my breath at one point!...as Miss Clara DeLancey finds herself in a rather dangerous predicament, thus setting the “stage” for what follows. I was not very fond of Clara in the first two books and was wondering how her story would unfold and if I would ultimately find her likable at least. I will say that the author has done a fantastic job in redeeming Clara in my eyes by weaving such a heart-tugging backstory for Clara, her growing-faith-journey in Jesus and in developing a humble-character that I could not help but find her charming. Well done Carolyn Miller! I still find her society-climbing mother hard to like.
Then we meet Captain Benjamin Kemsley, who is by far my favorite character in this story. I love his heart, honor and integrity, honesty, humor, the way he cares for his family and those in need and his strong faith. His family—well not so much his brother, captured my heart as well. I loved watching Ben and Clara interact on the occasions they meet and how their hearts yearned for more than friendship. I was hoping they would put the so-called social barriers behind them and allow themselves to find love.
I was happy to see some of the beloved characters from the first two books return in this book so we get a glimpse of their lives since we last saw them. I enjoyed the historical detail of Brighton’s seaside—beautiful, London in all it’s splendor and the Prince Regent’s ostentatious spending on a Grand Pavilion….oh my, it hurt my eyes/senses experiencing it through Clara and Ben’s first visit there! I especially appreciate the inspirational elements woven throughout the story and the importance of faith to the characters. The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey is a story of hope, redemption, forgiveness and relying on God—especially in times when you want to give up, fascinating details and well developed characters that come alive on the pages. A delightful, heartwarming story!
