When Dominic Hunter receives a message that Chloe Steele needs his assistance, he immediately makes his way to her home. When much younger, the two were very good friends who may have lived through a terrible event but it tore them apart for years. Recently, Chloe came back into his life after his not knowing her fate while they were separated. Dominic made have had humble beginnings, but he is now an English magistrate with much power, and he would do anything to make certain nothing bad ever happens to her again.

Since Chloe knows exactly what it is like to be rejected by family when help is most needed, she has dedicated her life to supporting girls who become pregnant. Though the specifics of her work are not general knowledge, somehow the secret got out and she was threatened. After Dominic hears the details, her safety is foremost in his mind. When they were younger, he was not in the position to watch over her but now he can. While both may be older now with different personalities than before, the feelings they had for each other have never decreased, even if the sentiments are left unspoken. Dominic plans to use the time they are together to renew their friendship, and he hopes it develops into even something more if he can gain her trust.

Occasionally there are characters who are featured throughout a series who do not get to tell their own personal story at first. When it is finally time to reveal the facts about them getting their HEA, I receive so much satisfaction when an adored individual finds someone to love. Dominic has given up so much to help others, yet never asking anything for himself. Though there were numerous times when it did not look favorable for him to ever find Chloe, I was ecstatic when I discovered TALL, DARK AND ROYAL was going to be this couple’s book. From the very beginning, I could tell how much he loved her yet fears kept her from returning the feeling. Seeing someone put the happiness of others before their own is an admirable trait, and these two have done just that for way too many years. To ever have a chance of a future together, Dominic and Chloe end up having quite a lot of conversations filled with honest revelations.

A main theme in TALL, DARK AND ROYAL is exposing the inner feelings of Dominic and Chloe, and many of their comments are backed with such intense sincerity. Though the story is a novella, it never lacks in getting across just what is going through the minds of this couple. Their love is conveyed in a number of ways, from caring devotion to sensuous intimacy. There is a little suspense resulting from the danger, and it lets several characters prove their inner worth. Several people from previous books make an appearance, and I especially enjoyed revisiting Griffin with his self-confident behavior. Vanessa Kelly always creates characters and dilemmas that are truly realistic plus constantly enjoyable. TALL, DARK AND ROYAL is profoundly moving with deeply affecting emotions all the way through.

I am glad to finally read a book regarding Dominic. It has helped put some of the pieces together and understanding him in the previous books. I which it had a little more intrigue though,but enjoyed it never the less.
Awesome novella for the series. Dominic and Chloe finally get their happy ending, and of course it happens in between a murder plot. It's really sweet from each of their points of view and with characters from both the first two books, it makes it that much more interesting and funny.
This novella tells of the reunification of Dominic and Chloe. They were childhood friends separated after she was raped by one of the princes at 14. She returned in the previous novel involving her son Griffin Steele and a baby in her protection. Now she and Dominic have to figure out how to get their happily ever after.
Short but sweet. Vanessa Kelly delivered a entertaining tale again. I am on to the next book. I look forward to it
Not worth $1.99, save your money for a real book. The characters were underdeveloped, predictable, and boring. Dialogue was dull.
I loved the series and I loved Dominic and Chloe's story but I wish it could have been longer. They were separated by circumstances for such a long time I feel they needed a full novel. This look should be read between Book 2 and 3 per Vanessa Kelly's book list. I definitely will be reading more of Vanessa Kelly's books. Her books keep your interest and you do not want to put them down. I would recommend this series to everyone.
I have been dying for Dominic & Chloe's story since I read the first book in the series.

My heart nearly broke for Dominic I that book and I wanted him to have a HEA.

And he finally, finally gets it.

While this book was short, it was perfectly paced and if you have read the other three books you know the backstory, so this book doesn't seem rushed.

I thought Ms. Kelly nailed this story! The writing was fabulous, the emotions spot on and the love scenes perfect.

And the epilogue - sigh! It was everything I wanted for these two and didn't dare hope for.

I am loving this series and can't wait for Will's story in January.
